We’re back! I hope you and your family got to enjoy a little rest over the break! We are jumping right into our 5th unit of the year with some decimal, fraction, & percent conversions. Followed by integers, number lines, and absolute value. Please be sure you are checking agendas, graded papers, and growth slips to see how your child is growing as a 6th grade mathematician. Please visit my Curriculum Calendar on my website to stay updated on objectives and assignments.

Welcome back parents and students! I hope everyone enjoyed their two weeks off, and got to enjoy some beautiful fall days! We will be jumping right into the second nine weeks with a packed schedule! Go to the curriculum calendar on my website for details. Please make sure your child has all of the necessary school supplies that they need to be successful! (pencils, paper, notebooks, and binders)
Mr. Millhoff – Social Studies
This quarter starts off with a our Ancient Greece Unit. Plan for a vocabulary quiz on October 22nd during the 2nd week of the unit. Finally, during the 3rd week students will create a myth and take an end-of-unit test October 30th. The end-of-unit assessment is skill based and not a memorization of facts type of assessment.
Ms. Stewart - Science
Second quarter we will hit the ground running with our new unit about the lithosphere. Students will have the opportunity to create scale models of the layers of the Earth and learn about what comprises each of them. We will do some demonstrations to learn about the density of the layers, as well as how layers of rock are formed in our Earth’s crust.
Every Friday we will engage in “Science Friday” where students will have the opportunity to learn more about various science topics, some of which may be related to our current unit. They will have the chance to use ZSpace in conjunction with The Friday Institute as well, so please make sure students are having you sign the consent forms for participation and turning them into me as soon as possible so we can get the ball rolling with this program!
Team Information:
Monday, October 12th: Guest speaker for students.
Friday, October 16th: Early Release Day!
