Good Afternoon Parents & Guardians,
There are quite a few things that need to be discussed with you.
BEHAVIOR
**Student behavior has become a great concern for Mr. Carter, Mrs. Lewis and myself. We have seen many extremely unacceptable behaviors for sixth graders. For example, hitting and pushing people, continual non-compliance (talking while the teacher is talking, not listening to instruction when given, arguing and talking back to the teacher, running and tackling in the hallways and classrooms, etc.), inappropriate use of technology, lack of caring for school property, inappropriate playing/bullying in the bathroom, skipping class, and many more. Each of these things that occur are addressed with each particular student and as a class/team. However, while we have addressed these with a number of consequences, we for some reason are still continuing to see these behaviors. So, from this point on if your child is not following HOWL (Honor, Order, Wisdom, Leadership) or school policy they will be immediately written up (the consequence may vary) with no warning. These school & classroom policies have been the expectation and have been communicated from day one!!
CLASS PREPARATION
**PLEASE spend some time at home going through your student's school materials. Many students are coming to class unprepared. Without notebooks, classwork/homework, and without pencils. They must be prepared to learn the moment they walk into the class room. Please remind your students of this expectation and how this should be implemented in the 6th grade. Much of their class time or time to work has been wasted trying to find a writing utensil.
EOG's
**EOG's are quickly approaching! EOG's will be held the week of May 11th. Over the next few weeks we will be finishing our curriculum for all of our classes and begin reviewing for the EOG's.
In Math, students are to complete the assignments given to the on Tenmarks.com/login. They have received their login's. They are to complete the assignments by every Friday.
TECHNOLOGY
**Much of our classroom technology is slowly dwindling due to the abuse and inappropriate use. Please speak with your student about how to care for school property. If this continues the technology will no longer be used.
Thank you for support at home.
